Rising like a phantom out of nowhere, the enigmatic spanish dj and producer Dykkon is ready to hit the global underground techno scene again! After appearing on Drumcode and Skeleton, he is going to make waves with the 'Truco EP' on our imprint. This release shows up with 3 originals and covers techno in all it's facets!
Opener, and title track 'Truco' feels pretty aggressive and starts with an assertive kickdrum, backed up by a rolling bassline. The theme, which consists of a simple one-note synthstab the track centres around, is introduced very soon and bathes the track in a combative mood. Snappy hi-hats and bright 909 rides reinforce 'Truco's impelling character while gently interwoven reverbs and delays add tension at the right time!
Follow-up 'Presto' puts focus on a slightly detuned and reverbed vocal which creates an hypnotic and ethereal atmosphere. The top structure builds up tension before claps start banging around while the kickdrum feels a bit like back in the good old days.
Completing the release 'Dogma' starts with an atmospheric pad and a chest-beating bassdrum, which specifies the tracks groove. Classy offbeat hi-hats add drive while cut-off rides corroborate the bassdrum. Dykkon’s spaced-out atmospheres run relentlessly throughout the track and inflate in the break, before ringing in the action again!
As ever with Dykkon, this finely crafted release is produced kinda simple and functional, and convinces with dark and atmospheric techno vibes!
