about

Hailing from Greece, Kostas Maskalides is known for his futuristic cutting-edge techno, and appears on Drowne Records for the second time! After the huge success with his rework of Ovi M's Clockwerk, Kostas presents his next release on our brainchild. The 'Black Panther EP' shows up with a massive original being placed alongside remixes from Mikael Jonasson and Lance Blaise.

Opener, and title track 'Black Panther' feels pretty fierce and takes no prisoners. It starts straightforward and gets intense with empathic synthstabs and a razor-sharp structure very soon! Additional electric synthstabs add tension to the track which bristles with energy, while well placed drumfires and cymbals raise the exitement to immensity, before the track calms down with a conceptual closing!

The first remixer is no less a figure than Mikael Jonasson from Sweden! His work is well known from labels as Drumcode, Figure, Octopus, Phobiq, and Driving Forces, and he continues to push the boundaries of modern club music with his amazingly crafted, rather rare techno productions. Mikael put hands on 'Black Panther' and created a synth-fueled peak time banger which evolves constantly and delights it’s listener with pushing vocal snatches, superb synths, and an outstanding sound design. After floating into the second break Mikaels re-interpretation mutates into an unashamedly powerful, rhythm-driven section, and shows how eclectic and fascinating techno can be!

The second rework comes from the american Lance Blaise, who is known for his deep and dark underground techno. His reinterpretation of 'Black Panther' comes up with a raw, but very classy structure. Tonal percussions clink back and forth and add a hypnotic quality to the track, while claps and delays bring the agility!

In conclusion the 'Black Panther EP' covers different styles, reaching from raw structures and hypnotic atmospheres over to futuristic productions and spaced-out vibes, and offers a miscellaneous package of advanched techno music.
